Résumé express
The most strategic Azul: landscape Queen Isabel’s gardens by drafting tiles and expansions, then paying to place them on a board of hexes. Every tile has a color and a pattern; placements follow affinity, and each round honors different colors and patterns. 4 rounds, a scoring at each one, a final scoring… and the king hates waste. Highest total wins.
Mise en place
- Each player takes their starting garden (hexes) and their limited-capacity storage.
- Tiles (6 colors × patterns valued 1 to 6) fill the central supply; garden expansions sit alongside — taking pieces reveals new tiles.
- The round track shows which colors and patterns are honored at each scoring.
Tour de jeu
On your turn, one action, until everyone has passed:
- Acquire tiles or an expansion → into storage (mind the space: no room, no acquiring).
- Place a tile from storage into your garden: its cost = its pattern value, paid with tiles of the same color or same pattern. Placement rule: the tile must be isolated, or touch at least one hex sharing its color or pattern — never two identical tiles adjacent.
- Place an expansion to grow your garden (pavilions score at every scoring).
- Pass (for the rest of the round).
Fin de partie
- Round scoring (×4): tiles of the honored colors and patterns score, along with pavilions. The criteria change every round — plan ahead!
- Final scoring: every group of at least 3 tiles sharing a color or a pattern scores according to pattern values; leftover jokers are worth 1 point each; every other leftover tile costs its symbol’s value, and a cluttered storage hurts too.
- Entering it in the app: enter each player’s points round by round (negatives allowed), folding the final scoring into the 4th round entry. Keep the rulebook handy for detailed values.
FAQ
Can I pay for a value-5 pattern with any tiles? No: only tiles of the same color or same pattern as the one placed — jokers help.
My storage is full? You can’t acquire anything until you place (or pass). Hoarding gets expensive at the end.
Two identical tiles side by side? Forbidden — affinity requires a shared color or pattern, never both.
